Additional Details

From 1928 to 1935, the Harmon Foundation gave support and awards to American Negro artists, featuring their work in a series of catalogues which have now become quite scarce. The artists illustrated on their pages represent a virtual who's who in a period that has come to be known as the 'Harlem Renaissance.' Artists like Sargent Claude Johnson, Allan Freelon, Henry Bozemen Jones, Palmer Hayden and many others were given a platform for the first time.
