first series of this major art magazine. XXe Siècle featured contemporary art as well as decorative arts and design. It devoted each issue to a specific theme and was known for its interviews with leading artists of the day as well as for providing excellent reviews of exhibitions and publications. The pre-World War I first series is extremely difficult to find complete. It features the desirable issue Number 3 with 6 woodcut plates by Kandinsky (3 in color) and the Christmas issue, Number 4, with engravings by Matisse, de Chirico, Miró, Arp, Laurens, Magnelli, Zadkine, Hélion and colored lithographs by Duchamp and Bill.
