Additional Details

seminal yet obscure avant-garde publication of the avant-garde group linie. Formed in Southern Bohemia in the late 1920s and led by Josef Bartuska, Linie was a group of academics and artists, similar to Karel Teige's group Devetsil. The journal published important early articles on the works of Moholy-Nagy, Psychoanalysis in Modernist Film, Man Ray, Film, Photography, Surrealism and other cultural movements and figures. A large exhibition at Obecni Dum in Prague in 2003 renewed interest in the group, saving them from obscurity and restoring them to their rightful place of importance in the Central European Avant-Garde movement.
