Additional Details

Corrigan's infamous flight from New York to Ireland in 1938 (6,000 miles off-course from his declared destination of Los Angeles) made him a folk hero. Upon his return to New York City, he was given the full star treatment--a rousing ticker tape parade and introductions to N. Y. luminaries.
