Most of these photographs show American naval airships: the USS Macon, USS Los Angeles, the doomed USS Akron (including its 1931 christening by First Lady Lou Hoover), J-3 (which was wrecked searching for the Akron survivors), Detroit ZMC-2, and experimental blimp K-1. The Goodyear blimp Puritan is also shown.
