William Preston Mayfield (1896-1974) gained a place in history in 1910 when, as a 14-year-old photographer for the Dayton Daily News, he became the first to take a photograph from an airplane in flight. He went on to a long and significant photography career, with an enduring interest in aviation and aerial views.
