Santos Dumont (1891-1932) pioneer Brazilian aviator who is credited with the first flight of a powered airplane in Europe when he flew his "14-bis" 722 feet in Paris in 1906. After falling ill in 1910, later determined to be multiple sclerosis, he retired from flying, eventually moving back to Brazil where he committed suicide in 1932. Both of the present pamphlets, in French, were issued by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, the first giving the minutes of a 5 May 1914 meeting and the other revising their Statutes and Regulations.
