On September 21, 1908, Wilbur Wright flew a 1907 Model Wright Flyer over the artillery field of Camp d'Auvours near Le Mans, France. Setting a world record for endurance, this flight of 66 kilometers lasted one hour, 31 minutes and 25 seconds, winning the Aero Club of France prize.
