(BDSM)

Binders of photographic references and original art from the files of the founder of the International Mr. Leather contest.
6 looseleaf binders containing approximately 240 photographs, 6 original drawings, and numerous clippings and copies from magazines and other sources, inserted or laid down on sleeved album leaves.

Most of the art is BDSM-themed. Included in these binders are photographs, clippings, and reproductions of drawings by Tom of Finland; Etienne; Steve Masters; and older torture-themed work. Include a photograph of an Etienne drawing inscribed "To Barry. Regards, Etienne." Among the handful of original drawings, the cover of a 1960s pulp "Man's Magazine" is juxtaposed with a crude pornographic rendering of the same.

Provenance: The collection of Charles "Chuck" Renslow (1929-2017), co-owner of Chicago's Gold Coast bar; publisher of the magazines Triumph, Rawhide, and Mars; and founder of the long-running International Mr. Leather contest and the Leather Archives and Museum. He is a member of the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame and the Leather Hall of Fame.
