An impressive travel album with more than 100 scenes from Egypt, Greece, the Ottoman Empire (Turkey), and Jerusalem.
With approximately 105 photographs, this album traverses Athens, Corfu, Philae, Luxor, Karnak, Istanbul, Constantinople, and Jerusalem, and includes landscapes, ancient ruins, studies of sculpture, spas, mosques, and a few portraits. About 40 photographs are credited to Antonio Beato, Bisson Frères (Louis-Auguste Bisson and Auguste-Rosalie Bisson), Félix Bonfils, and others. Albumen prints, most images measuring approximately 9x11 inches (23x27.9 cm.), some slightly smaller, about 30 measuring 3 1/2x4 1/2 inches (8.9x11.4 cm.), and the reverse, mounted recto/verso, some with a credit or caption in the negative, and nearly all with a caption in ink below the print on the mount. Oblong 4to, black cloth boards, disbound. 1890s
