Additional Details

A deluxe edition of Carey's quarto bible, identified by the number 24 stamped in gilt on the front turn-in which corresponds to an 1807 catalogue of bibles issued by Carey located at the Library Company. According to the catalogue, issue 24 was the "Best Edition with 30 first-rate maps and plates, and with Psalms," printed on superfine medium paper and bound in morocco. The price for this deluxe issue was $12 -- more than any other bible issued by Carey at that time. Although the publisher's morocco gilt binding is in decent condition, the condition of the interior makes this lot sold as is. Hills 174.
