An elaborate prospectus for one of the great Bibles of the early Federal period, Isaiah Thomas's Royal Quarto issued in 1791. Here Thomas promises "elegant new types, already made and completed, particularly for the purpose," and promises that the $7.00 charge can be paid partly in "wheat, rye, Indian corn, butter or pork" in lieu of cash. Clergymen who subscribe for 12 copies will receive a thirteenth free of charge. A sample passage from Genesis is appended as the third page, and room is left at the bottom of the final pages for a subscriber's list (here blank). An interesting piece of early printing history.
