the studebaker family bible with a family register between the Old and New Testaments with the original owner's name -- Rebecka Mohler -- hand-colored. The register records the births of her children, including Henry and Clement Stewthebaker and the deaths of various family members.
The bible is also of note as being the first German bible printed outside of Philadelphia and as the first bible printed in Reading. "In typography and general appearance it resembles the Saur Bible, and may be considered a continuation of it"--Wright, Early Bibles of America, page 49.
