The note on the title-page reads, "The Birds painted by Theodora Guest & completed July 1897." There is, additionally, an Autograph Letter Signed by the author to Mr. Guest, saying that it would probably be "hopeless to think of coluring each plate separately." The colouring on the plates in the present set, as accomplished by Guest's wife, is absolutely marvelous and must be seen to be appreciated.<
