A VERY UNUSUAL VERSION (BLACK MEMORABILIA.) Ten Little Niggers. Group of 10 chromolithographed diecuts showing well-dressed young boys in a series of adventures each ending with the removal of one boy. The diecuts are joined to each other in a long roll in the form of a panorama, with captions beneath each. 4x70- 1/2 inches overall, with each diecut image measuring approximately 6 inches; one boy lacking his head in one scene, a few small scattered nicks at edges, few archival repairs on verso. London: (possibly Raphael Tuck & Sons), 1880s or 1890s

Additional Details

Possibly manufactured by Tuck, but without his characteristic easel insignia. May also have been produced in Germany. Not intended as a panorama, but issued in that format. Each scene was meant to be separated and the parts mounted into a scrapbook or album. What is unusual is that the boys are all well-dressed and wear a different outfit in each adventure. In fact, when the boys appear "In Chancery" they are dressed in barrister's tails.
