Two berets, with embroidered sentiments on the inside: One appears to have been done by hand, the other, probably sold by the Panther Party--the first, an even, deep purple, the other black, some obvious wear, but both are whole, no tears, clean with black leather trim. While a great deal of material related to the Black Panther Party movement in the U.S.A. exists (posters, newspapers and so forth) very little material culture has been seen on the open market, quite likely because of its personal nature. These two berets are a perfect example.
