Hubert Geroid Brown, or Jamil Abdullah al-Amin, as he became known later in life, after his imprisonment, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1943, and was known as H. Rap Brown during his activist years with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. He is famous for his quote 'Violence is as American as apple pie.' He also said 'If America don't come around, we're gonna burn it down." He is currently serving a life sentence for murder.
