Stokely Carmichael and The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, or "SNICK," were responsible for this pamphlet, printed in Lowndes County Alabama. Carmichael, helping to organize voting rights drives in Mississippi in 1964 and Selma in 1965, went on to form the Lowndes County Freedom Organization in 1966. This pamphlet was produced for a specific drive to put black candidates on the ballot. The black panther was later adopted as the official logo of the Panther Party in San Francisco.
