Additional Details

A stark and dramatic poster by Emory Douglas, Minister of Information of the Black Panther Party, with a long quote from Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, hero of the Cuban Revolution: "Wherever death may surprise us, it will be welcome, provided that this, our battle cry, reach some receptive ear, that another hand stretch out to take up weapons and that other men come forward to intone our funeral dirge with the staccato of machine guns and the cries of battle and victory.' Eldridge Cleaver had his own copy by April 1968, as recalled by his wife Kathleen: "Eldridge and I framed that poster and hung it above our living-room sofa in the center of the wall. We believed Che's words were sealed in his blood once he was killed in Bolivia and took them as a continual inspiration for our own revolutionary commitment" (Black Panther: The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas, page 57).
