An exceptionally powerful piece by the multi-talented Luis Talamantez, a Chicano member of the San Quentin Six. Talamantez has several pieces of published poetry as well as an entire collection of his poetry titled Life Within the Heart Imprisoned. Talamantez was finally exonerated and released in 1976 after eleven years in prison. A note in Wikipedia says he disappeared in the South in 1989.
