(BLACK PANTHERS.) SEALE, BOBBY. ON STRIKE! Here and Now for Bobby Seale. Portrait poster of Bobby Seale, 22 x 17 inches, printed entirely in brown. [New Haven, CT: Yale University Strike, 1970]

Additional Details

A scarce poster gotten up by students at Yale in 1970 to protest the trial of Bobby Seale and others, which was taking place in New Haven. The Panthers were being tried for the murder of Alex Rackley, suspected of being a traitor to the Panther cause. A very important trial which became a rallying point for the American Left. But it also divided both students and faculty into conservatives and progressive camps. The courthouse was just across from the Yale campus, making it even easier for the thousands who took part. In the end, the protest and student strike forced Yale to compromise to avoid further negative coverage in the press and to get scheduled classes back to normal.
