Many of the issues contain revolutionary art by Emory Douglas. Highlights include Number 2 from 15 May 1967 with coverage of the Denzil Dowell protest and the iconic image of Huey Newton in the fan-backed chair Number 6 from 23 November 1967, "Huey Must be Set Free!" with the same image on the front cover, and "Revolutionary Posters by Emory" for sale on the back 30 January 1971 issue featuring Ericka Huggins on the cover, signed by her below her portrait 13 March and 20 November 1971 issues featuring full-page photographs of Angela Davis on the covers (both of these issues are slightly singed at edges). By year, the 44 issues include the 2 issues from 1967; 4 issues from 1968 (16 March, 4 May, 28 September, and 26 October); 5 issues from 1969 (25 May, 6, 13, 20, 27 December); 17 issues from 1970; and 16 issues from January to August 1971. An exceptional group, mostly very well preserved and including some very early issues.
