Additional Details

These pamphlets chronicle two of the most important events surrounding the Black Panthers and their harassment by the U.S. government. The first piece is a "white paper" on the Fred Hampton assassination. In December 1969, Chicago police came to an apartment in a Chicago slum, announced they had a search warrant, and then suddenly broke in, firing what was later estimated to be over 200 rounds of ammunition. When it was over, two Panther leaders were dead, and seven arrested. A judge later released all seven. In the second paper, Clark Squire was arrested together with 20 other Panthers ("the Panther 21") in 1969 on charges of conspiracy, a charge common to the many Panther trials of this period.
