Additional Details

This poster is a disillusioned sequel to the idealism of the early civil rights movement and the militancy of the Black Panthers. A man steps toward us with a knife and rifle, not with a message of progress or radical change, but with a parody of Psalm 23: "Yeah, tho I walk through the alleys of the ghetto, I shall fear no evil, because I'm the baddest 'son of a bitch' down here." We can find no other examples of this poster in OCLC or at auction--and almost no other reference to the artist or Osiris Enterprises. Their business address was on West 76th Street in Chicago's South Side.
