The conference was held from 29 August to 1 September 1968. This program includes introductory remarks from a Father Washington, essays on "Alternatives to Black People's Survival in White Racist Capitalist America" and "Black Power 1968," and a 4-page listing of conference workshops, plus ads from Philadelphia supporters.

The coverage of the conference in the Philadelphia Inquirer of 31 August 1968 reported 2500 attendees from across the country, and named the Rev. Jesse Jackson as a conference leader. Only 2 in OCLC, at New York Public Library and the University of Pennsylvania.
