Assata Shakur and Sundiata Acoli were members of the Black Liberation Army who survived a 1973 shootout with New Jersey state troopers, but were sentenced to life in prison for murder of one of the troopers. Shakur escaped from prison in 1979, and has lived under political asylum in Cuba since 1984. Also known as Joanne Chesimard, she was known as Tupac Shakur's godmother. Also depicted are Toussaint L'Ouverture, Harriet Tubman, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, and George Jackson. None traced at auction; 2 in OCLC.
