Additional Details

one of only forty-four copies with a loosely-inserted color-printed lithograph after Crosby, in a glassine sleeve. This copy also contains a letter from henrietta crosby, harry''s mother, to New York bookseller Samuel Loveman, discussing Loveman''s interest in Harry Crosby''s "Journals" as it applies to his current project about Hart Crane. She writes that he cannot buy a copy as it was never printed for sale and the only existing copy is hers. 29 January, 1934 on 95 Beacon Street letterhead. One 8vo page, folded and tipped to the upper corner of the front pastedown.
Only two complete sets containing all three volumes of Shadows of the Sun, the diaries of Harry Crosby, have come to auction in the past 35 years (the last was the Keynes set at Christie''s London, April 2004). When single volumes appear, they usually lack the print. Minkoff A11.
