Jerome Napoleon Bonaparte, Jr. (1830-1893) was born in Baltimore. He was the son of Jerome Bonaparte, younger brother of the Emperor Napoleon. He had an American mother and spent many years in the American military. He moved to France at the request of Napoleon III and served in various military campaigns. He returned to America and spent his remaining years there.
