Dumas (1753-1837) French general and nobleman, served under Rochambeau in the American Revolution, member of the Legislative Assembly, escaped to Switzerland during the Reign of Terror. After Napoleon became First Consul Dumas headed the Army of Reserve, Minister of War under Joseph Bonaparte, fought at the Battle of Austerlitz, Battle of Wagram and in the Russian campaign.
