Descubes was a native of Mauritius and made a name for himself on the island as a cartographer. In that capacity he was instrumental in completing the most exhaustive mapping of the island. He also worked in India later in his career in a similar capacity. Descubes also produced several thousand accomplished botanical studies. Presented here are Hooked & Bearded Corky Swallow Wort and the Madagascan Smoke Bush.
