Additional Details

Quite possibly a composite of several Thornton monographs. Volume includes an engraved title for The Genera of Exotic and Indigenous Plants and a sectional title for The Philosophy of Botany, both bound at the rear. Of the botanical plates, some appear in Dunthorne's list of the volumes contents (Dunthorne 303), but many do not. Included are 19 (of 25) of the portrait plates of botanists and scientists. They are the only plates dampstained in the lower left, suggesting that they are from another copy.
