Bourke-White's iconic image of Fort Peck Dam was featured on the front cover of LIFE Magazine's inaugural issue, on November 23, 1936. It was her first feature at the newly published picture magazine, and an important assignment: the Dam was a multi-million dollar project undertaken by the federally-funded Public Works Administration.
