A set of 4 photographs of Belle Gordon, "Champion Lady Bag Puncher of the World." A series of images depicting the pugilist and a male companion (her trainer), in which she is posing with her punching bag (2 images), with her fists raised (one), and a final image with a tennis racket. Printing-out paper prints, each measuring approximately 8x5 3/4 inches (20.3x14.6 cm.), each mounted to an original board measuring approximately 12x9 3/4 inches (30.5x24.8 cm.) and presented together in a period oak frame (overall size 27 1/4x23 1/4 inches, 69.2x59.1 cm.), each of the top images with a caption, in ink, on mount recto. Additional Details

Belle and her sister Minnie claimed to be the originators of vaudeville "lady boxing acts," in which they entertained crowds with their speed and dexterity. Belle won the title of "champion lady bag puncher of the world" before 1913.
