Additional Details

A rare Ogun fetish from Brazil, almost identical to its West African counterpart. Part of the pantheon of Orishas, Ogun is the god of metal, and more specifically iron. This fetish was made to protect the health of its owner, generally placed in front of the person''s home. The Yoruba culture of Nigeria, carried to the New World by slaves, was preserved almost exactly in the Afro-Brazilian population of Bahia and Pernambuco.
