Additional Details

Joseph F. Sabin (the son of the famed bibliographer, bookseller and auctioneer) continued his father's business after his death in 1881. Sabin the elder served as auctioneer of the first 3 parts of the Brinley Sale. This copy of the Fifth Part of the sale is priced throughout, with some buyer information and other information in code. The newspaper clippings provide a fascinating contemporary look at the reaction to the monumental sale, and were presumably assembled by Sabin himself.
