Additional Details

An important look at the business affairs of an early nineteenth century Northern freewoman. Three receipts for credits and debits, two of which are running accounts headed "Lucy Angel, woman of colour." In all, 30 lines related to transactions (of cash, dinners, wood, eggs) between Daniel Perrin and Angel. One appears to be signed: "Lusy Engel." Angel was listed as a Providence R. I. Head of household in the 1810 U.S. Census. The white Angells were a prominent family in Providence.
