Additional Details

A most unusual invoice for four weeks of labor done by Quash Bailey, an apparent free black and his four-- and at times five man crew. Their work would have been loading and unloading ships in Savannah's busy port. The other names that appear on this bill are Norris, John Bull, Coleman, Collington, and Lamanique (?). The total for all work done over four weeks was $343.56, a considerable sum in 1823.
