(BUSINESS.) Bring the Entire Family to See the First New York Exposition of Progress, an Exciting Panorama of Negro Progress. Illustrated double-sided flier, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches; light toning. New York, 25 March [1956]

Additional Details

The Exposition of Progress was held at the Wanamaker Building downtown at the corner of Broadway and 8th Street. This flier is illustrated with a portrait of actress Hilda Simms, who served as official hostess for the event; it promises music, educational exhibits, films, fashion shows, appearances by various stars, and daily contests throughout the 8-day event: "For the first time, a full scale panorama and exposition which recognizes the importance of the Negro in today's economy." A map appears on verso. The Exposition was a major event at the time, but has been largely forgotten; we are aware of no other memorabilia to appear at auction.
