An unusually well-preserved example of one of Madam C. J. Walker's key products. Black Women had for many years used harsh chemicals and hot irons to straighten their hair. These methods took their toll, causing many to lose their hair. The genius of Madam Walker's products was the promise of preserving hair, while "relaxing" it.
