first edition, belonging to T.V. James, the first black physician in Columbus. with James' name stamped in gold on the upper cover. A large directory, encompassing virtually everyone in Columbus, whether business or residential, black or white. "Colored" people are identified by a small "c" within a circle, next to their name. Out of a population of 14,207 people, at least half were colored. Out of 42 churches, 20 are colored: A.M.E., Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal etc. A very detailed directory for a relatively small city.
