(CABINET CARDS--THEATER) Set of two albums containing approximately 330 theatrical cabinet cards depicting famous late 19th-century Broadway and West End actors and opera singers. Including numerous 19th-century celebrities of the stage, including actors such as Ellen Terry, Max Alvary, Lillian Russell, and Herbert Beerbohm Tree. The images depict actors in their various Shakespearean, comedic, and operatic character's costumes and sets. Personally compiled and inscribed from the maker to its new young owner, presumably a fan, to Esther Faulkner Hayden as a gift from her Grandmother on the occasional of her 14th birthday (October 11, 1896). Albumen and printing-out paper prints, the images measuring approximately 5 7/8x4 1/8 inches (14.9x10.5 cm.), the studio mounts 4 1/4x6 1/2 inches (10.8x16.5 cm.), one 7 1/4x13 inches (18.4x33 cm.), mounted recto/verso with interleafing sheets, some with a date in the negative, all with the studio's mark and location and some with the name of the sitter on mount recto, some with the actors identified in ink below the cards. Thick folios (2), green leatherette with the owner's gilt-lettered initials on each cover; with the gift inscription on the front free endpaper of the first album. 1896
