Additional Details

first edition. Includes extensive marginalia by Toker, a British naval officer from the Brig Drake, in some cases more interesting and detailed than Chappel's text. For example, Chappell records the capture of two Indian hostages (p. 185); Toker adds "No, only one . . . she was X-ened Mary March and died of decline in 7 weeks after her being captured and was carried back to the place where she was captured . . . in order that her friends might see she was not killed . . . I was in N.F. at the time. Mary March had a very beautiful hand that many a European lady might envy." McGill/Lande 122, Sabin 12006, TPL 941.
