Identical to the first edition of 1691 except for the title page. Le Clerq was a Franciscan missionary working among the Indians of the Gaspé peninsula in eastern Quebec. His narrative records his work among the Indians, as well as details of the native culture prior to European civilization in the area. This copy has four manuscript illustrations inserted, depicting life in the peninsula. Scenes include Le Clerq praying with the and preaching to the Indians, hunting a moose, and an Indian dance.
