Additional Details

OCLC locates only 3 copies of this German translation of A Geographical History of Nova Scotia, first published in London in 1749 in both English and French. Neither of those editions, however, contain the map by Jefferys, a derivative from a separately published map by him the same year titled A Map of the South Part of Nova Scotia (see Kershaw 809, the present map unknown to him). "Preface states the work to be written for prospective settlers and based on the Author's own observations and on Charlevoix. It is one of the first statements of French-English rival claims in Nova Scotia"--TPL 210 (English edition); TPL 211 (French edition); Sabin 56138; Dionne 475; Baginsky, German Works Relating to America 330; Alden 750/159.<
