Additional Details

A charming and characteristic portrait of Dorne, with his trademark bushy eyebrows. A penned note on the verso indicates that this was likely painted at the time Dorne headed the Famous Artists School in Westport, Connecticut which he founded in 1948, along with fellow members of the Society of Illustrators. Emery Clarke, the noted illustrator of slick pulps and covers for The Saturday Evening Post, was an instructor at the school in the late 1950s-60s.
