29 of the plates bear William Heath's "Paul Pry" monogram and are imprinted earlier than July, 1829. Several contain engraved notes in the margins warning of pirated editions and proclaiming McLean as the sole publisher of Heath's works. The selection of other plates are by "A Sharpshooter" (John Phillips), I.R. Cruikshank, Robert Seymour, "HB" (John Doyle) and Thomas Jones.
