Two illustrations. Publication details unknown; likely newspaper editorial illustrations. Pen and ink on stiff paper. Circa 1918. Provenance: Gifted to Woody Gelman by Robert Winsor McCay Jr., after Gelman helped publish a book about Winsor McCay Sr. and the Little Nemo in Slumberland comic strips in the 1970s; the remainder of Gelman's collection was donated to the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum.

Surface toning and soiling, scuff across lower third of image, soft crease on verso not affecting image, lower left corner chipped; remnants of publication sticker on verso Man working in field. 159x112 mm; 4 x6 1/4 inches. Signed "Winsor McCay/Over There" in lower right corner around square with two flag stars (possibly to indicate the service of his son Robert and son-in-law Raymond Moniz). Tear across signature and in three additional locations emanating from bottom edge, scattered light soiling, verso with remnants of publication sticker, cellotape (from early repairs to tears) and heavy glue residue.
