Additional Details

A rich collection of turn-of-the-century images and themes including child welfare, labor, political, war and domestic scenes.

Jones was a classic artist-reporter who chronicled major stories for the Chicago Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and the New York World where, in 1898, he sketched troops during the Spanish-American war during his captivity in Havana. Some of those images appear in this album. He was also the only artist to capture the one recorded likeness of President William McKinley's assassin, Leon Czolgosz, when he worked his way into the prison where the murderer was held overnight in Buffalo.
