Group of 6 cases, 5 of them Union cases, each with beautiful exterior motifs and multiple images (with 2 to 4 per case), and one customized wooden case. AND--Group of 5 black lacquer cases with mother-of-pearl inlay containing a total of 8 images, comprising a ninth-plate tintype with a study of 3 African-American men; a half-plate with double daguerreotypes (one of sisters in identical plaid dresses & their slightly older brother and the companion image a hand-tinted study of a man and wife); a quarter-plate with double ambrotypes; and 2 sixth-plates (one a double-images case containing daguerreotypes of a man and a woman). 1850s-70s.
