Additional Details

One of Des Barres' most desirable charts and a rarity of early Charleston mapping. The large chart depicts a barely developed city surrounded by farmland with an inset showing the general harbor and entrance to the Cooper and Ashley Rivers. An extensive key describes the positions of troops, fortifications and vessels present during the siege which signified a major success for the British and a devastating defeat for the Americans during the Revolutionary War. Stevens 164C with imprint erased below scale.
